i think you finally hit the nail on the head. why the $%^# should
newbies be working on documentation? openbsd is about *quality*, not
just of the OS itself, but of its documentation and everything else.
i've been running openbsd since 2.7, and would be so bold as to not
consider myself a "newbie" anymore; however, i am no where *near*
qualified to write documentation for openbsd that is up to the level
expected by the users of openbsd.
'round these parts--newbies *read* documentation (well--we hope), and
seasoned veterans and gurus *write* documentation. and they do a
fantastic job of it.
in five years of running openbsd, i have never come up with a question
that wasn't answered thoroughly by: the man pages, the FAQ, the mailing
list archives.
if you want an OS where everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute
code, docs, etc; with no thought towards quality control--go run linux.
