Dave, just a word of caution, there is no standardized way to handle
Emergency Services (911) calls with VoIP and unlike traditional phone
services if the power goes out you could be stuck without phone service.
You may want to maintain just a basic phone line for insurance in
situations like that.  Other than that I personally am looking into
using Asterisk at home and in our branch offices that don't have PBX's
at work.

As a side note, about 3 months ago jolan@ imported a port of Asterisk
1.0 into the -current Ports tree, so you may want to check that out.
