Several:
1) Be more careful ;-)
2) Install a CD and boot with an installation CD into single mode, make a 
backup of /etc and extract all the sets from the CD into /a, where /a is a 
temporary mountpoint of your /
3) Get another box, make it a firewall, then schmuck with the old one as 
much as you want.
