Yes, VIA C3 motherboards are very cool. I've just got mine, a M-10000 II.
This one has a CPU-fan and it is pretty noisy :-(  I have to replace it.

I noted that BIOS parameters seem to be very critical for the OS
stability. Loading "safest parameters" in the BIOS menu resolved 
stability problems I had but not this one.
