Apache magically stops logging

All, I'm posting this to misc and ppc since this problem has only happened
on the Mac side.  If replying on the misc list please CC me.  Yes, I've
checked the archives.

Problem:  Apache, for some reason I cant figure out, stops logging every
night when newsyslog rolls the log.  Messages in log file is as follows:
Jun 27 00:00:02 smith newsyslog[9478]: logfile turned over
Jun 28 00:00:01 smith newsyslog[29294]: logfile turned over

A simple SIGHUP to apache fixes the problem and it returns to normal.  Note:
around the same time this started happening sendmail started bouncing
messages (server I was sending to went down for maintenance).  Example, I
have root, manager, and dumper in aliases pointing to my email address.
Therefore sendmail couldn't locate mail server.

I know the sendmail thing may be a little out there in trying to figure out
what happened, but its the only thing that corresponds time wise.

Thoughts?
