i've had the same problem...with -current as well
someone else was able to get around it by untouching printer settings
in the bios, that is if you messed with any bios options...however,
i have been unable to solve my problem with the same procedures,
touching and untouching all sorts of settings, including the usual
faq stuff (playing with pcibios and disabling devices (boot -c))
i've found that none of the floppies worked, nor the bsd.rd, but
somehow booting via cd33.iso works, but you will have hit <space>
after the stall, it will continue, again only with the cd33.iso..
odd for i understand that bsd.rd is the same...i don't know the
problem or answer.
2 ways i've gotten around it:
- install 3.1, then upgrade (binary to 3.2 or 3.3 or -current)
- install 3.3 on boot drive on another system, then move over
my hardware is/was tyan 2469 dual-athlon motherboard
search archives for tyan 2469.
also, redirecting boot to console and sending a full dmesg might
help.
