It is really more of a vent than a troll, you people are all about being
jerks to people when they have a FAQ or something common, but when
someone comes along with a real problem, one or both of two things are
done:

1. Direction to a FAQ page that does not solve the problem, or even
explain it.
2. Nothing. ("This guy has a problem that I don't know the answer to and
am unable to give a smart ass/demeaning remark about, so on to the next
message.")

Also, this is a real question, and a real problem. It just happens to be
one that no one understands/wants to fix. Everyone is too busy being
assholes to everyone else that nothing gets done.
