I am using 3.0 and for some reason it has sorted itself out. ntp is writing
new figures in driftfile. I'm not sure what fixed it as I was trying the
same thing all weekend (running ntpdate, stopping and starting the daemon) I
know I have a bad clock and the ntp documentation suggested my symptoms were
one of the following:
"The peer is discarded as unreachable, synchronized to this server (synch
loop) or outrageous synchronization distance", however I found it odd that
the same peer could use ntpdate successfully.
Anyway, it works now - thanks for the help.
