This article is flawed. They were unable to configure pppoe on OpenBSD and
didn't even know that FreeBSD does have a kernel pppoe implementation
(netgraph based).

The bottom line is that performance is better if pppoe is implemented in
kernel. So porting the NetBSD implementation would be a good thing.
