Indeed, that's downgrading what your client is trying to do and you're
(almost) on your own. I myself wouldn't even think about running a
production machine out ouf specification, there might be problems, there
might be not, nobody knows. Doing a fresh install when 3.2 comes out is
the best you can do. You have to decide what you want: -stable
or -current. Of course you could track -current until 3.3 comes out, but
stop following -current *before* the 3.3 code-freeze ;)
