mail command without sendmail or gateway without MTA?
Hello!
I'm configuring a gateway an I want to run all kind of
script on it on a daily basis. The result should be
obviously mailed to root. All this things happens
locally.
Anyway, I don't want any services I don't use and a
MTA is definitly one. Is there any way I can still use
mail without a MTA and to have mail served locally.
In my case, without mail disabled from /etc/rc.conf
every message still get put in a file in
/var/spool/clientmqueue/ directory which belongs to
smmsp:smmsp i.e.
Login:smmsp
Name: Sendmail Message Submission Program
.
I looked at the mail files in /etc but they still
depend on sendmail or a MTA.
If anyone knows a solution here please do tell me. I'm
not agains MTA but I want max security on this
machine . What approach did you guys take on this
matter?
Thanks,
Costin
