cd not found after firmware update

I just updated the firmware for my Matsushita CW-7502 in order for it to
work properly with cdrdao. I went from revision 4.10 to 4.17. Now my
cdrecorder is not found when the system boots. I am running -current from
about three months ago, but tried to boot with the 3.0 as well as 2.9 cd's
and the cd was not recognized by either of those versions as well.

My questions are: Does anyone know anything about this particular problem I
am having?
Is there something as simple as a little used kernel option that might help?

The dmesg from when it was working is below and after that, just the diff of
after the upgrade.

Thanks for any help.
