Discontinuing Old OpenBSD Support

Hello.

My apologies if this is well known or if this has been answered before.
Is there a well-defined timeline where older versions of OpenBSD are no
longer patched due to their age?

Looking back at the pre-2.9 versions, it appears that patches are only
released for the two latest versions of OpenBSD, or about 10 months
after it has been released.  Is this consistent with the planned
obsolescense?

Basically, I'm asking so that I can determine whether I should upgrade to
3.1 from 2.9 once it comes out...
