Perl make calls exit

Hi once again...
Did anyone experience the problem when compiling perl the script makes a
exit and you end up at the login screen again? Maybe thats part of my
problem and something would still need to be done after the point where
the exit is executed. (I am doing exactly what make build would do in
the perl subdir)
I tried building from the original src.tar.gz and from one updated to
OPENBSD_3_0 stable. All the same result of a broken perl. No reference
to symbol "_Perl_malloced_size" as you know...
What I wonder about is that the exit doesnt occur when I do a make
build. I would end on the login screen in the middle of the build
process, right? Well, that just happens when I do the stuff in the perl
subdir.
I am running out of ideas here.
