Re: Help :)
Well, the SOund Blaster live will only work with an OpenBSD system that is
post-3.0. I have been using the snapshot from January 4th now with decent
success.
I have never used a GeForce video card, so I can't help configure it.
If you are having problems running, XF4, however, I would highly recommend
compiling a kernel without mtrr support. I have an Athlon 1.4ghz that can
not run XF4 with mtrr enabled due to some kind of bug (it crashes and all
you see is a blinking cursor). I believe the
problem has been reported in detail and I suspect it may be fixed by 3.1.
(The same bug appears to exist in FreeBSD) I guess that's the price of
using cutting edge hardware.
I would tell you to use X3.3.6 for now, but I don't think it supports your
GeForce(?).
I think the best advice for a newbie here would be to wait for the next
snapshot, upgrade your system to it in the normal fashion, and compile a
kernel without mtrr. Simply comment out the line that says psuedo-device
mtrr.
Feel free to email me if you have any other questions. Remember to read
the FAQ.
