I have never heard of vtun. but the pples applied are very close to ppp.
I don't see any pbs with your setup as long as you respect the security
policy of your employer.

My experience w/ ppp was very smooth & trouble free as long as one
carefully read the manpage of ppp. See my answer to Jyri Jovila on the
29th.
