crash due to cc bug resolved in 2.9-release?

Hi,

when using x86 processor classes >386, OpenBSD 2.8 crashed horribly
during heavy ftp network load. This is, as I heard, due to a bug in the
code optimization thingies cc does when compiling the custom kernel
(some friendly person on IRC pointed me to the correct mail in the
archives). Compiling a kernel for i386 only resolves the problem and I
now enjoy a rock stable OS on my sexy little gateway.

Do I still have to take care about this issue in the 2.9 release or has
(g)cc been fixed/updated meanwhile?

Thanks for your short and helpful answer,

Moritz
