Re: Changing NIC



Unless I am missing something really obvious this should be fairly
trivial.  

Shut the system down.
Pop out the old card.
Pop in the new card.
Fire up the machine.

Run 'dmesg | more' to find out the device name assigned to the new
network card. Likely this will be de0 or something similar.

Copy your existing hostname.xl0 or whatever over to a file that reflects
the new device name, likely hostname.de0.  Change any commands or
switches in that file as required.

If you are doing IP forwarding or NAT you'll likely have to change the
related files to reflect the new interface name.  Anything that
references the device name will have to be changed.

Reboot and verify that everything comes up OK.
