I've also been wondering about this... I seem to recall a suggestion 
that this be done in two "stages"; i.e. 2.6->2.7, 2.7->2.8. It should 
work I guess... that's what the "Upgrade" option on the cd is for.

I'll let you know if I get around to trying this anytime soon.
