stumped on xntp

Hi,

Here goes another of my insanely newbish questions. I just installed xntp
from the packages collection. Everything seemed to have installed fine. At
the end of the installation, I was informed that I would have to
create/edit ntp.conf and restart my machine, which I did.

when creating my ntp.conf file, I added my 3 servers, inserted my ntp.drift
reference then saved and closed as shown below:

# XNTP configuration file

driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
server nist1.sjc.glassey.com
server nist1.datum.com
server nist1-aol-ca.truetime.com

I then used touch to create ntp.drift, afterwhich I rebooted.

After the reboot, I expected to see xntpd running....however, I did not see
it listed when I ran ps and top (both from root)

As far as I can see from the installation blurb and from the xntp site, i
have done everything I need to do. If this is the care, why isnt it up and
running? If it isnt the case, what step have I missed and why isnt this
documented better--at least for brain dead newbies like me (ok, the second
part is rhetorical)?

Lastly, once I get xntp running properly, does anyone know of a good ntp
client for windows? Obviously, I would like to use xntp to set all the
system clocks on my network.

I would appreciate any help

Thanks
