Re: MAKEDEV ALL
mkdir /dev; cp MAKEDEV /dev; ./MAKEDEV all
Penned by John Bruce on Thu, Mar 01, 2001 at 08:07:57PM +1300, we have:
| Hello list,
|
| I have just upgraded from 2.7 to 2.8 but I have a problem. I need to do a
| MAKEDEV ALL to make my /dev directory but I can't seem to do it. I d/loaded
| etc28.tgz separately and decompressed it. I tried to run the MAKEDEV.local
| inside the decompressed /dev directory but nothing happened - it said
| MAKEDEV command not found (sorry if I am obviously doing something wrong).
|
| Then I read the MAKEDEV man page. It said to run the shell script in the
| /dev directory - I don't have a /dev directory now. I would mount my backup
| hard drive but I can't cause I need /dev/wd1 ! I've had a look in the
| mailing list archives and the faq and it seems what I need is a copy of the
| MAKEDEV script. I had a look on the ftp site and in the src files but
| perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.
|
| If I am completely missing the point please tell me.
|
| Cheers
|
| John Bruce
