Why are there both de and dc [Was: Re: system freeze]
Hi Aaron,
Sorry to jump on that, but as you are the dc maintainer, I ask...
Why is there still a de driver while dc seems to be the 'all Tulip compatible' driver ?
Is it that the original DEC chip 21x40 are that different from all the other 'Tulip' chips ? Or doesn't the dc driver support some "weird" modes that the de driver can ?
I ask this because I have some 21140 based Cogent EM110TX which I can't use, either with de and dc !!! (I think I didn't test at 100Mb/s)
de works well with the 21040 (10Mb/s) in my alpha Multia, and I didn't dare try dc on it... probably wouldn't work...
If you feel it's valuable, I can send you a couple of those Cogent to try a fix. (they are not broken, NT runs with them)
cheers,
Thierry
