Re: Which JDK versions are known to work in 2.8/i386

The only Java2 jdk that works at present is an old Java2 v1.2pre2 blackdown,
which can be gotten from some blackdown mirrors. There is a port which will
(hopefully) soon be in the ports tree for this blackdown version, but it is
waiting for a more updated linux_libs port, as it depends on a library that
is not included in the current linux emulation package.

The more recent JDK's are not able to run in emulation as many modern linux
programs (including these) use a function that is not implemented in the
linux_compat system in the openbsd kernel. Work on that is pending also.

Also there is a project to modify the current Java2 v1.2.2 BSD common port
to run with OpenBSD, though no specific timelines are avaliable.

If you get the ports tree, you can also get jdk1.1.8 (freebsd) in emulation
from that.

regards,
Christian.
