Well,
when your machine hangs, while setting it to non-pnp, try
to configure the port manually. It worked for me. The card wants by default
communicate over the BNC port, but I need the TP so I booted up with
an old DOS disk and set this manually.....

If the DOS setup utility hangs too, try to set it via the ifconfig "-link X"
argument.
