Check the hosts allow section to make sure you're allowing the local subnet
to connect to Samba. The smb.conf file (at least with FreeBSD) is so well
commented you almost can't get it wrong. Take the time to read it thoroughly.
Everybody says to disable password encryption on Windows but I think that's
wrong. Windows is insecure enough as it is. Enable encrypted passwords on
Samba. You'll have to keep your passwords synced manually but it's one less
security hole to worry about.
