Kernel compile problem after 2.8>2.9 update

After installing 2.8 from cd on i386 architecture, I downloaded 2.9
/usr/src. Following the steps on the www.openbsd.org I compiled GENEREIC
kernel before compiling /usr/src... Compilation stopped:

Stop in /usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC (line 2103 of Makefile).

the system was clear, I only installed few ports from 2.8 precompiled
packages: screen, gettext, ncftp and links.
