Two things:

1) I talked with the originator of this bug some time ago: they said 
they no longer had the notebook computer in question.

2) I had the same problem with an IBM ThinkPad 705c, which is 
virtually identical. The problem was definitively solved after 
running IBM's BIOS updater available from their web page.

I did post this once before as well.
