Windows says the modem is a "Lucent Win Modem", and I gather that I can't use a winmodem with OBSD. IBM tells me it's nevertheless not a winmodem; it's part of the Intel combo modem+ethernet thing. I'd like to boot OBSD from a floppy/cd and try to use the modem before I install for real, lest I waste time installing on hardware that won't help me. Anyone have a suitable image, or know how I can make one (given that I've never installed OBSD before and don't have access to any OBSD machines on which to make the image)? paul From owner-openbsd-mobile-outgoing@naughty.monkey.org Thu Mar 7 09:39:40 2002 Return-Path: Delivered-To: openbsd-mobile-outgoing@naughty.monkey.org Received: by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix, from userid 502) id 60D9F3D4ACC; Thu, 7 Mar 2002 09:39:40 -0500 (EST) Delivered-To: openbsd-mobile@monkey.org Received: by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix, from userid 1001) id E00093D4ACB; Thu, 7 Mar 2002 09:39:39 -0500 (EST) Received: from rover.village.org (rover.bsdimp.com [204.144.255.66]) by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 260EF3D4A10 for ; Thu, 7 Mar 2002 00:54:54 -0500 (EST) Received: from harmony.village.org (harmony.village.org [10.0.0.6]) by rover.village.org (8.11.3/8.11.3) with ESMTP id g275sqi89621; Wed, 6 Mar 2002 22:54:52 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from imp@village.org) Received: from localhost (warner@rover2.village.org [10.0.0.1]) by harmony.village.org (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id g275spL90549; Wed, 6 Mar 2002 22:54:51 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from imp@village.org) Date: Wed, 06 Mar 2002 22:54:44 -0700 (MST) Message-Id: <20020306.225444.39156014.imp@village.org> To: prj@po.cwru.edu Cc: openbsd-mobile@monkey.org Subject: Re: OpenBSD-mobile: suspected winness of modem From: "M. It is what we call a WinModem. It might not be a Win Modem [tm], but it isn't a controller modem either. Warner
