It's suppose to be supported by openbsd, yet I received "function 0 not configured" error up until i add the following lines to sys/dev/pcmcia/if_ne_pcmcia.c: { PCMCIA_VENDOR_NEWMEDIA, PCMCIA_PRODUCT_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE, PCMCIA_CIS_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE, 0, 0x0ff0, { 0x00, 0xc0, 0x15 } }, Now openbsd found the card, but errored with the following: "ne1 at pcmcia1 function 0 \"New Media Corporation, Ethernet, MACE\" port 0x340/32: can't match ethernet vendor code", and when I changed the vendor bytes (0x00,0xc0,0x15 to something else), the problems just changed its name to "ne1:where did the card go?" or again "can't match ethernet vendor code". So my questions are, does anyone know the vendor bytes for this card, or where to get them (if i understand correctly this are the first 3 bytes of the ethernet address, so the above code should be correct) ? Does this card really supported by openbsd 2.9 ? Thanks in advance, -r. I really want to start using openbsd and this problem pretty much prevents me from doing that. I have NewMedia Livewire ethernet pcmcia card that is suppose to be supported by obsd. The docs sais so. Is it supported ? seems not. Altougt the pcmciadevs.h has #define PCMCIA_VENDOR_NEWMEDIA 0x0057 #define PCMCIA_CIS_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE { NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL } #define PCMCIA_PRODUCT_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE 0x1004 There is is no reference to this card in if_ne_pcmcia.c file, hance the error while booting "function 0 not configured". So I've added this to if_ne_pcmcia.c { PCMCIA_VENDOR_NEWMEDIA, PCMCIA_PRODUCT_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE, PCMCIA_CIS_NEWMEDIA_LIVEWIRE, 0, 0x0ff0, { 0x00, 0xc0, 0x15 } } Now the error boot sais: ne0 at pcmcia1 function 0 "New Media Corporation, Ethernet, MACE" port 0x340/32: can't match ethernet vendor code I've checkd, the vendor codes are correct. Can someone *please* tell me what is wrong. Is the card supported or not ? Thanks, -r. I am running OpenBSD 2.9 and whenever I run xf86cfg (XF86Setup will not create version 4 config files but runs fine), the screen will blank and not come back on. I can ctrl-c out of the program and execute commands but the screen stays off until a reboot. I have not been able to find any documentation that tells the horizontal sync, vertical sync, etc. for the LCD display. Does anyone have any useful information for me? Does anyone have any useful information for me? maybe give xf86config(1) a shot. I use it, and it works. also don't forget to look at the many XF86Config files available at http://www.monkey.org/openbsd-mobile/, maybe you can use on as a starting point. as far as the specific settings, I usually try the lowest ones first, just to verify that X will work, then tune them up. bye, -- dmuz From owner-openbsd-mobile-outgoing@naughty.monkey.org Wed Jul 25 17:39:28 2001 Return-Path: Delivered-To: openbsd-mobile-outgoing@naughty.monkey.org Received: by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix, from userid 502) id 0BB5B115B2; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 17:39:28 -0400 (EDT) Delivered-To: openbsd-mobile@monkey.org Received: by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix, from userid 1001) id 2F095115B1; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 17:39:27 -0400 (EDT) Received: from mail5.svr.pol.co.uk (mail5.svr.pol.co.uk [195.92.193.20]) by naughty.monkey.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9AF34115A3 for ; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 12:38:14 -0400 (EDT) Received: from modem-438.sponger.dialup.pol.co.uk ([217.134.153.182] helo=bundalo.domain) by mail5.svr.pol.co.uk with esmtp (Exim 3.13 #0) id 15PRfo-00022I-00 for openbsd-mobile@monkey.org; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 17:38:13 +0100 Received: from jpw by bundalo.domain with local (Exim 3.12 #1 (Debian)) id 15PRh3-0000Rp-00 for ; Wed, 25 Jul 2001 17:39:29 +0100 From: John Paul Wallington MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: <15198.63041.887881.167535@bundalo.domain> Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 17:39:29 +0100 (BST) To: openbsd-mobile@monkey.org Subject: OpenBSD-mobile: toshiba t1910 wont boot floppy X-Mailer: VM 6.72 under 21.1 (patch 10) "Capitol Reef" XEmacs Lucid X-Organisation: The John Paul Wallington Organisation [day shift]. Just got OpenBSD 2.9 2 CD set today. It fails to boot floppyC29.fs. It fails to boot *any* linux bootdisk. giving bios message: reading boot. Read error I made an INT19.COM file with debug. It does just the same, without checking memory and going thru POST. Does anybody know why it fails/whether its fixable? Cheers, John
