Verified. Setting malloc.conf options to 'aj', lets git-fetch run
without crashing:
: root_(_at_)_kobe:/etc# ln -fs aj malloc.conf
: root_(_at_)_kobe:/etc#

: keramida_(_at_)_kobe:/home/keramida/git/erc$ git-fetch
: keramida_(_at_)_kobe:/home/keramida/git/erc$
: root_(_at_)_kobe:/etc# ln -fs AJ malloc.conf
