Adjusting Cpan on upgrade from 6.1 to 6.3

Having upgraded freebsd 6.1 to 6.3 I find the following errors from the cpan

Having got errors I did the following
cd /usr/ports/lang/perl5.8
make clean
make configure
make deinstall
make reinstall

But still got the errors shown below which all seem to be around entries found
in the old database which shows a generation date prior to the above
It seems the cpan Metadata has not been updated.

What are the correct steps to follow:
cpan> r
CPAN: Storable loaded ok
Going to read /usr/cpan/Metadata
