the code is already there. let's try :

$ ln -s /tmp/tar /bin/pax
$ ln -s /tmp/cpio /bin/pax
$ /tmp/tar -?
usage: pax [-]{crtux}[-befhjmopqsvwyzHLOPXZ014578] [blocksize] [archive]
           [replstr] [-C directory] [-I file] [file ...]

$ /tmp/tar -?
